An Post Ravensdale Road

Project Summary

The project consisted of a redevelopment of the 0.9 ha land formerly occupied by a warehouse and industrial yard and a construction of a new An Post Mail delivery service, internal road and a carpark. Approx. 17,000 tonnes of the excavations material classified as non-hazardous waste was disposed of at a licenced waste facility in Ireland. 5,000 tonnes of the soil was classified as highly hazardous material containing large quantities of asbestos fibres and had to be carefully loaded on to the lorries and hauled to a port in Dundalk, where it was subsequently loaded on to the vessel and shipped to the Netherlands for disposal. The operation required a task specific Method Statement and a Risk Assessment to minimise exposure levels for operatives, drivers and members of the public.
